AGPLENUS – AI-GENERATED CHEMISTRY FOR NEXT-GEN CROP PROTECTION

Real-World Innovation Gap

Innovation has stagnated over 30 years, yielding only a few novel pesticide Modes of Action (MoA). Traditional discovery is not well suited for today’s complex agricultural challenges – from crop selectivity through environmental safety and enhanced regulatory conditions. This highlights the urgent need for innovative chemistries that combine efficacy, safety, and sustainability to transform crop protection.

The AgPlenus Solution –
Multi-Parameter AI for Real-World Performance

AgPlenus designs novel small-molecules for real-world agricultural performance. Our proprietary ChemPass AI for Ag engine performs advanced multi-parameter molecular discovery to generate novel, potent, and patentable compounds. Experimental results are continuously fed back to improve predictive precision and decrease development cycles.

Core Benefits for Real-World Innovation

AgPlenus provides end-to-end discovery programs for global ag-chemical companies, combining AI molecular design, biological validation, through flexible partnership models that accelerate time-to-field.

Multi-parameter optimization Aligned with agricultural realities

Novel scaffolds beyond existing patents and databases

Field-oriented validation & optimization cycles

Partnering with AgPlenus

AgPlenus operates in synergy with leading agricultural partners – merging its computational AI design with the partners’ experimental validations.
Flexible collaboration frameworks cover the entire spectrum of discovery and development:

  • Joint Discovery Projects: Co-develop novel pesticides from target definition to optimization.
  • Integrated R&D: Embed ChemPass AI into partner discovery pipelines for iterative series generation.
  • Licensing: Access ready-to-validate leads or next-generation MoA candidates.
  • Corteva

Partnering to accelerate the discovery of next-generation herbicides

AgPlenus entered a strategic collaboration with Corteva Agriscience in March 2020 to co-develop new Mode-of-Action (MoA) herbicides discovered by AgPlenus. Extracting true synergy from computational innovation and agronomic expertise, this partnership accelerates the discovery-to-field cycle for next-generation crop protection products.

Corteva holds exclusive licensing rights to the products.

“The collaboration with AgPlenus has accelerated the identification of a class of herbicide chemistry that targets a new mode-of-action for weed control, something the industry has been lacking for decades.”

  • Bayer

Advancing sustainable, broad-spectrum herbicides.

In February 2024, AgPlenus entered a licensing and collaboration agreement with Bayer AG to develop a new sustainable weed control solution.

Aiming to design and optimize molecules with broad-spectrum herbicidal activity – the partnership targets the APTH1 protein – a novel Mode of Action (MoA) discovered by AgPlenus.

Under the terms of the agreement, Bayer holds an exclusive license to develop and globally commercialize products.

Tackling Wheat Blotch (Zymoseptoria tritici)

Wheat Blotch accounts for 70% of EU fungicide usage in wheat (> $1.2B annual market). Resistance to top fungicides (strobilurins, $4.6B in 2024 sales) continues to grow.

Delivering a novel MoA together with a patentable fungicide compound with a potential to overcome resistance and meet sustainability goals.
